Monday Message – August 1, 2022

I hope July has been filled with good things! We’ve been home for much of July, I’ve been gardening and reading most of the time, although we spent a few days at Pictou Lodge with my son and his family and I managed to fulfill one of my summer time goals: I got up on a paddleboard! Also spent a great day exploring McNab’s Island, if you haven’t been over, I encourage you to take a trip and discover this beautiful spot. We made arrangements from Fisherman’s Cove, so close to home for us! I am back this week and then away again for two weeks.

On Saturday, we will be celebrating Gordon MacAskill’s life @ 10:30 am, in person only. You can read his obituary here.

This Sunday, we continue with our Reel Theology series and we are focusing on the Maudie, the story of Maud Lewis, you can watch it on Netflix, although as always, it’s not necessary. The scripture readings I am focusing on are Isaiah 40: 28-31 and 2 Corinthians 4: 7-12. My theme is The Beauty of Persistence.

Did you know that there is a Maud Lewis exhibit at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia? Is anyone interested in going on Thursday evening? It’s FREE that evening from 5-9. We could meet at the Ferry Terminal and go over together. Even better, we could have supper at the Wooden Monkey first if folks were interested in that! Let me know!

You have until Wednesday to let me know if you want an orange Every Child Matters t-shirt, you can fill out the form at church, specifying size and pay for it on delivery. I will be placing the order on Thursday.
