Monday Message – June 20, 2022

Worship this week: We are going to focus on the UCW, the United Church Women, and their ministry. You may not know just how much ministry the UCW is involved with and how they live out their calling.

We’ve got a special piece of music from Sam Crabtree.

I’m at Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre in Paris, Ontario for part of this week. As part of my work in our region, I’m being trained as a United Fresh Start Facilitator. The photograph is part of the labyrinth and one of the magnificent oak trees that the property is named or. I’ll be checking email regularly and will be back either late Wednesday or Thursday and of course, will be in church on Sunday to lead worship.

Here’s a sneak peek at our Summer Series: Reel Theology! Each week, the worship leader will be reflecting on a particular movie and scripture passage. We’ll publish a list of movies, but it won’t be necessary to have seen them, although you might want to!

Are you interested in participating in the Pride Parade? Check out this message from St. Matthew’s UC: Greetings from St. Matthew’s United Church, Halifax

As I’m sure you are already happily aware The Pride Parade will once again grace the streets of Halifax this year (Saturday July 16th) and we at St. Matthew’s couldn’t be more excited. This will be the first Parade since 2019 and as such we at St. Matthew’s feel that it is especially important that The United Church show its support with numbers. To that end our Worship and Music Committee (which is currently in the process of planing our participation in the 2022 Parade) is reaching out to you and other United Church congregations in the HRM to ask if you are planning to participate in this years Pride Parade and / or if you would be interested in walking with St. Matthew’s.
