Monday Message – September 19, 2022

I’m a day late again! Yesterday I was invited to represent the United Church at the Provincial Commemorative Service for Queen Elizabeth II at All Saints Cathedral in Halifax, which took up all of the afternoon. It was a dignified, formal service in the Anglican tradition with wonderful choral singing, bagpipes, but it was was opened with a Mi’kmaq Smudging Ceremony and Prayer and included prayers and reflections from inter-faith leaders in HRM.

Worship – This week the scripture is Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-31, I am reflecting on Hospitality and Promise. It’s also the week where we are dedicating the chairs; you have a few more hours to get yours in! $135. You can e-transfer to the church: stairsmemorial@eastlink.ca.

There are still three medium sized Every Child Matters T-Shirts, so if you don’t have one and would like one, and medium would fit, come see me! We will be marking Treaty Day/Every Child Matters on October 2nd. I’d like to take a picture of all of us in our orange shirts that day, and even if you don’t have an Every Child Matters shirt, wear something orange! It’s also World Communion Day, so we will be celebrating communion as well.

Autumn Rambles! You have until this evening to let me know whether you would like to receive a daily email prompt to encourage a walking practice for two weeks. You can call me @ 902-483-1422 or email me @ reverendcatherinemacdonald@gmail.com

A big thank you to Ryan who has stepped in to do some admin work while we continue the search for a new secretary!

We love to hear from our readers!
