Thursday Thoughts – November 11, 2021

As I write this, the Remembrance Day observances are over for another year. For some people, it is simply a day off, for others it is a day that is dear to them for a variety of reasons. Perhaps someone close to them had served in the military and died, perhaps someone served and came back forever changed. May we all take a few moments to pray for the possibility of peace.

Looking Ahead

Worship This Week

Scripture – Amos 1:1-2; 5:14-15, 21-24

Reflection – In and Out

Questions I Am Pondering

  • What is the purpose of worship?
  • How does worship prepare us for engagement with the world?
  • How does worship change HOW we engage with the world?

Other Things That Are Going On

Congregational Meeting

Sunday, immediately following worship, there will be a congregational meeting to vote on the recommendation from the Transition Team and Executive. The meeting will not be streamed to Facebook Live; you must be present, either in person, on Zoom or by phone in order to vote.

  1. From my perspective, recommendation does not address making better use of the building. I had mentioned at consultation session perhaps the recommendation could be adapted to add “minister could lead on the key issue of how to make better use of the building” .. if that wording puts too much on minister maybe the recommendation could keep 3rd concern on radar by adding “and maintaining an active committee to focus on making better use of the building.”

    1. Or since this recommendation is final the other option could be to commit to add a second recommendation addressing the question of how to make better use of building. This could be voted on separately.

      1. Good voting session today… regarding recommendation.. helped clarify things for me. Look forward to being part of the process as it unfolds!

We love to hear from our readers!
