Thursday Thoughts – May 6, 2021

We are celebrating Holy Humour this Sunday, and in case you thought this was something I dreamed up, you can read more about it here.

We will share a special Mother’s Day Prayer

We are celebrating communion, so bring bread and juice, cookies and milk, crackers and tea, whatever you like. ALL are welcome to share.

It’s also my last Sunday service before sabbatical; I’ll be working next week till Thursday, but next Sunday Jessie Crabtree will lead you in worship.

It’s been a big couple of weeks for the Stirling family.

New bursary for DHS students honours Rev. Laird Stirling

DARTMOUTH, N.S. – A new $500 bursary will be available to students at Dartmouth High School this spring.

With the generous support of the Stirling Family, the Dartmouth North Progressive Conservative Association is pleased to announce the Hon. Rev. R. Laird Stirling Bursary for a deserving student who contributes to their community.

The Hon. Rev. R. Laird Stirling (1938-2020) was a politician, United Church Minister, and pillar of the Dartmouth North community. From 1979 to 1988, he represented the electoral district of Dartmouth North and was the first clergyman elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature.

Throughout this time, he served as cabinet minister under Premier John Buchannan. From 1989 to 1996, he was minister at Stairs Memorial United in North Dartmouth.

Rev. Stirling was committed to the youth of our community, as demonstrated by his role as past-president of the Metro Boys and Girls Club, the Rotary Club of Dartmouth and a quarter century of service with Scouts Canada.

Students interested in applying can find the application at https://docs.google.com/…/1oEIoGa1S53Wjr5PBotd21pb…/edit#. They can also be sent a copy of the application by emailing dartmouthnorthpc@gmail.com. Applications are due June 1, 2021.

This bursary is made possible through contributions from the Stirling family and the Dartmouth North PC Association.
