Monday Message – Nov. 14th

Ryan Gomes telling us about the Stone Soup Network when plan to start up as another way of connecting to the community.

Worship – As we wind up our Discipleship Series this week, we focus on generosity. The scripture is Micah 5: 2-5a; 6: 6-8; the passage may be familiar to you as it ends with the familiar words: “What does the Lord require of you? But to seek justice and love kindness and walk humbly with your God.” You can listen to commentary on The BibleWorm Podcast here.

Today (Monday), I am completing my parts of the Discipleship/Stewardship program in preparation for its launch on Sunday. I will spend some time on a Zoom call with other Intentional Interim Ministers across North America this afternoon, and this evening I’m visiting a family about a funeral; it’s one of the few times I’ve been called on by a funeral home for someone not connected to the church since I’ve been at Stairs.

Tuesday – As part of my work in the wider church, I will attend a Zoom meeting of the Future Directions Committee in the morning and record the Spiritual Reflection for the United Churches for Dartmouth Facebook Group; if you are not familiar with it, you can find it here. In the afternoon, I plan to solidify more of the worship plans for Advent/Christmas, maybe get a start on my sermon, and then in the evening, three of us have a Zoom call with Alexa Gilmour, the founder of Stone Soup Network.

Wednesday – Food Bank in the morning, along with finalizing the details for worship on Sunday, meet with Byron in the late afternoon, and then a membership class in the evening

Thursday – Study Leave Day, I’ll order some nametags, work on some promo for Christmas that I don’t get to in the midst of a busy week, perhaps work on the Christmas Eve services. Yes, there will be two! A short, interactive one at 4 pm: For Little People and Those Who Love Them, and then another one at 7 with choir, candles and carols!

And of course, there are numerous phone calls, emails, and administrative things to look after!

Friday is my tech sabbath where I don’t check email, but you can ALWAYS reach me in an emergency by phone: 902-483-1422
