Monday Message – May 2, 2022

What a glorious day today! The sun is shining, it’s still chilly out, but temperatures are supposed to rise and we are supposed to get a few days like this!

We continue with our series Terms of Resurrection in worship this coming Sunday as we explore ‘A Woman’s Place!’ Last week we heard about Paul’s conversion, this Sunday, you are going to hear about Lydia and some of the women who were leaders in the early church. I am using Romans 16: 1-7 and Acts 16:11-15 as a basis from which to preach.

Last Wednesday was Administrative Professional’s Day, so I took Tamara out for lunch today. Most of you don’t see her, as she is only here Mondays and Tuesdays, but she keeps our church (and two others!) running efficiently and smoothly and is a tremendous asset to all of us.

I’m happy to report that the grant we applied for in order to cover some of the cost to upgrade our AV system has been approved! Many thanks to LJ Roche, Byron Hermann, Susan Kolesar and Jack Godfrey for consultation on our needs and getting the quote. And thanks to Region 15 for the vote of confidence in our future! I look forward to the next stage!

A few pictures from worship: Byron sharing some of his call to Music Ministry, Ryan doing an excellent job of reading and the choir singing their piece.

Today I was privileged to sit in on an ‘Idea Day’ Zoom call. A chance to connect with other United Church people from across the country, both clergy and lay, about ideas for ministry and how me might support one another and ask questions. Sometimes, different congregations are working on a similar idea and so can offer each other encouragement.

Aside from the Idea Day today and the Stewardship webinar on Thursday, it’s a pretty ordinary week in ministry, worship preparation, phone calls, email, report writing, food bank, meetings.

As usual, I take a Tech Sabbath on Friday and don’t check email, but you can always reach me by phone in an emergency.

We love to hear from our readers!
